3-Day Sahara Desert Tour from Agadir to Merzouga

Agadir → Taroudant → Taliouine → Taznakht → Ouarzazate

We leave Agadir after breakfast and cross the Souss valley to Taroudant, whose six kilometres of earthen ramparts and unhurried souks earn it the nickname "little Marrakech" — time here to walk the walls and drink a tea. The road then climbs into the Anti-Atlas at Taliouine, the saffron capital of Morocco, where the crocus fields are harvested by hand each autumn, and on through Taznakht, known across the country for its Berber carpets. We reach Ouarzazate in the evening.

Ouarzazate → Skoura → Kalaat M’Gouna → Dades → Todra → Merzouga

East along the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs: Kasbah Amridil in the Skoura palmery, then the Rose Valley at Kalaat M’Gouna and the folded red rock of the Dades. After lunch we walk beneath the cliffs of the Todra Gorge and continue through Tinejdad and Erfoud to Merzouga, arriving in time to meet the camels. An hour’s trek takes you over the dunes to a high crest for sunset, then down to camp for a Moroccan dinner and Berber drums.

Merzouga → Rissani → Ouarzazate → Taznakht → Taroudant → Agadir

Sunrise over Erg Chebbi and breakfast at the camp, then the long road home. We stop at Rissani for the souk and the Sijilmassa ruins, then retrace the kasbah road through Ouarzazate and the Anti-Atlas, with lunch and photo stops along the way. It is a big day of driving — the trade-off for reaching the true Sahara from the coast — and we arrive back in Agadir in the evening, dropping you at your hotel.
