Overview

What to expect on this 5-day private round trip from Marrakech

Quick Answer

This 5-day Marrakech desert tour is a private, unhurried journey from the Red City to the golden Erg Chebbi dunes of Merzouga — and back — designed so you actually get to enjoy each stop rather than race past it. Over five days you’ll cross the High Atlas Mountains via the dramatic Tizi n’Tichka pass, wander the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, follow the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, and trek by camel into the Sahara Desert for a night under the stars.Unlike rushed 3-day trips, this desert tour from Marrakech gives the Dades Valley, the towering Todra Gorge and the nomad country around Merzouga the time they deserve. It runs daily, is fully private (just your group, your driver-guide and your pace), and can be tailored for couples, families and small groups.

You’ll have time to climb its clay alleys for a sweeping valley panorama before continuing to Ouarzazate, “the Hollywood of Africa.”The afternoon drive follows the scenic Rose Valley and the Road of a Thousand Kasbahs into the Dades Valley, where dramatic rock formations glow at sunset. Lunch is a local speciality — the famous Berber “medfouna” pizza — before you explore a desert oasis and, if you wish, try sandboarding or a quad-bike ride. Return to your riad to relax by the pool or take a quiet sunset stroll on the dunes. Dinner and overnight near Merzouga.
