Overview

What to expect on this 3-day private tour from Fes

Quick Answer

This three-day journey is the quickest way to link Fes and Marrakech while still seeing the best of the south. In three days you travel from imperial Fes over the Middle and High Atlas to the golden dunes of Merzouga, then on to Marrakech — taking in cedar forests, palm valleys, dramatic gorges and mud-brick kasbahs. It's fully private: your own driver-guide, air-conditioned vehicle and the freedom to stop for photos whenever the view demands it. Highlights include a sunset camel trek, a night in a Sahara camp, and the UNESCO-listed kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou.

Leaving Fes at 8:00 am, you head south through Ifrane before a stop in the Azrou cedar forest to meet its famous troop of Barbary apes. The drive continues through the Ziz Valley palm groves and the fossil town of Erfoud, the scenery turning steadily more Saharan. Rise early for sunrise over the dunes, then return by camel or 4x4 for breakfast. Today you head northwest, pausing at the lively Rissani market — one of the region's oldest souks — to browse crafts, spices and dates. Beyond the Tafilalet oasis you reach Tinghir and the Todra Gorge, where orange cliffs nearly 300 metres high frame a cool river, perfect for a short walk. The day ends in the green Dades Valley with dinner and an overnight in a local hotel or riad.
